Company of Ideas forum
The Company of Ideas Forum began in 2008, and has been an annual event ever since. Every year in May or June, a group of scholars, students, artists, and theorists come together to speak about the biggest issues in art.
Since 2016, the University of Victoria has had the pleasure of attending the forum with Art History and Visual Studies graduate students, both from the Master’s and PhD programs.
You can check out more information of past forums here.
The forum is held at the Rubinoff Sculpture Park on Hornby Island. It is lead and organized by Karun Koernig, JRSP Curator, and James Fox, University of Cambridge Art History Professor. Jeffrey Rubinoff is the founder of the forum and was an integral part of it until his passing in 2017.
The 2024 Forum occurred in June with the topic focusing on Art and AI. Presentations and conversations centered on the very befitting topic, ranging from AI as an artistic tool, simulated realities, a robot artist, and more. Discussions were rich and thought-provoking. It was yet another exciting year for Company of Ideas attendees.
