The 2023 – 2024 year has brought many new initiatives, including new field schools in the Music department.

The Different schools
Music has both research and performance based schools, both are 3-day trips. Research-based schools explore the park, Jeffrey’s works, and have lectures in the JRSP library. What the final outcome looks like depends on the professor; it could be an assignment, a performance piece, etc.
Performance-based schools have the option to organize performances at the Interpretive Center at JRSP and/or the Hornby Island Community Hall. For theses schools, students prepare pieces in advance to visiting the park. When arriving to Hornby, they experience the park, rehearse and play with the acoustics before the evening shows.
